2018 Suicide Prevention Partnership Initiative
In 2018, ACAN partnered with the United States Veterans Administration and multiple government agencies to address the critical issue of veteran suicide prevention through coordinated community outreach and strategic collaboration. This initiative focused on expanding access to mental health resources, raising awareness, and identifying locations for future inpatient and outpatient facilities to better serve veterans in need.
As part of the outreach effort, ND Cares participated in western North Dakota at a community fair, engaging directly with veterans, families, and local residents. The event provided education on available support services, promoted mental health awareness, and strengthened collaboration between federal agencies, community organizations, and local stakeholders. This partnership marked a significant step forward in building a comprehensive, community-centered approach to veteran mental health support.
