We met the Pasterski family in De Pere, Wisconsin earlier this spring. They shared their stories and their experiences in healing and caring for one another more than a decade after Isaiah was injured by an improvised explosive device on a road in Iraq.
Veterans Coming Home team member Kathleen Flynn documented their lives in a series of photographs that you can enjoy on Medium.
Isaiah Pasterski was injured by an IED explosion while serving in the Army in Iraq in 2003. The explosion struck his left side, from his face down through his body.
“The first thing he said was, ‘I’m never going to look the same,’” said Isaiah’s mother Susan Pasterski. “And we just said, ‘You’ll be ok. You have a support system. It’ll be ok. We’ll get you home.’”
